Child Hero – Dominic
Volunteering and making a difference for others
Volunteering for Metro Toy Drive since:
Dominic is a bi-lingual middle school student in Clackamas Oregon. His favorite subjects include Spanish, Science and Art. Since the age of 5 he has participated in soccer and enjoys playing on a Portland Timbers Alliance team.
Dominic’s varied experience in giving started as a small child. Annual family vacations overseas always included a visit to the local orphanage to meet the kids, donate clothing and medical supplies.
After the devistating earthquake in Haiti on January 12th, 2010, Dominic organized faculty members and students at his school to assist with a collection of supplies, toys and hygiene kits for those children paralyzed by the earthquake. In June of 2010, Dominic accompanied members of the Amy Roloff Charity Foundation on a mission trip to Haiti to deliver backpacks filled with these items to children living at the Friends of the Orphans NPH Orphanage in Port-au-Prince Haiti.
Dominic has participated in food delivery and donations for Human Solutions Emergency Family Warming Shelter in Multnomah County. He has also participated in cleanup day and has also volunteered time at the Waddles Boys and Girls club through the local Italian American UNICO community service organization.
This is Dominic’s first year as a Metro Toy Drive Child Hero. ”Being able to help kids in need is what being a Child Hero means to me”. My dream is to help as many people as I can and never having to stop.
Dominic has ambitious goals with regards to collecting toys for this year’s toy drive. He plans to meet or exceed these goals by collaborating with business’s, individuals and community members.
